Melvin Gordon underwhelms in first NFL action - NFL.com

Taking the field with the starters, Gordon had six carries for just 11 yards. Though San Diego punched it in for a touchdown on the opening drive, the Chargers did so via Danny Woodhead as Gordon watched from the sidelines. After Gordon and Woodhead took a seat, second-year back Brandon Oliver shined with 10 carries for 53 yards and a score.

For the heralded rookie out of Wisconsin, the slow start was more of the same: Gordon in camp has not assumed the confident, downhill approach that defined him in college, instead appearing to wait too long for his blocks before being stuffed for small gains

even though its too early you have to be concerned if your SD, i remember this rookie named fred taylor who had a terrible rookie camp and straight turned it up in the regular season.

Everybody with a brain was cautious of Gordon. Obviously it IS to early to tell, but in college bruh use to run through holes big enough for a DT to run through and average 5 yards a pop. It was going, and clearly is, to take time for him to adjust

Its way too early for this. :mjlol:

I wouldn't have taken him in rnd 1 tho. And those holes @ Wisconsin weren't that big. But he definitely looked for long runs ala CJ2k. He's going to have gms like this. But he's going to go off too.

With rbs you can tell early on whether they have the instincts or not. This is a little premature but you gotta be scard if your sd right now

But im saving my spot i think Trae Waynes will bust or take a LONG time to become a serviceable player.

theres been whispers of him since camp started, they wanted him to play tackle and he simply isnt athletic enough

im not saying hes a bust because of one game but theres been a lot of innuendo about him not being athletic enough to play in the nfl

this only feeds the fire
