And most importantly the engine deck is closed.....:whoo: This car is going to be a fukking problem. If this engine turns out anywhere near as moddable as a N54 and can up power by 50% with tune plus bolt-ons..We are looking at over 600hp with ~ 3300lb curb weight.... :lupe:

This will definitely be my next car. I have no doubt in my mind.

What significance is a closed engine deck, breh?

With two monoscroll turbos, the potential is definitely there.

For me it's either gonna be this or an Audi S7. But that's at least 5 years away.

An open deck engine has more gaps between cylinders in the engine block. This allows for lighter weight and more cooling. A closed deck engine does not have these gaps between the cylinders in the engine block. The block will be stronger but will be heavier than an equivalently sized open deck engine. What this means is that they won't have to reinforce or sleeve the cylinders because of the extra power generated by the turbos.
People who modify open deck engines for more a lot more power have to reinforce the cylinders because of these gaps in the block. If they didn't do it, there would be the potential for the cylinder wall to get blown out.

torque is kinda garbage but I am sure the modders will be cooking up something to change this real quick

I'm usually a sucker for M-series cars, but this is the first i'm not considering. The specs sound great, i just don't like how this 2015 looks. All the M's in the past looked like they had muscles, this shyt look anorexic compared to an R5 or an AMG.

That amount of torque for a twin turbo is sad. A modified Subaru Impreza WRX STi with a single turbo is tens of thousands less than the future price of this M3 and almost has that amount of torque. But for the decreased weight, it's not bad. I'm guessing, they don't want to push for more boost for street reliability. CAI, higher-flow exhaust, and ECU tune/remap will easily get this car into the 400+ lb/ft of torque.

I'm guessing they wanted to keep the high-revving nature of the engine intact, but give folks enough daily-driveability that you don't need to rev to 6k just to go to work.

If the curb weight turns out to be legit, it should be enough.

and for segmentation as well...they want to leave enough room for the m5/6 specs to be greater on paper

Case in point, the 2jz-gte is closed deck (94-98 Supra), and people have hit over 1000hp on stock blocks.

That curb weight is CRAZY by the way.

You hit the nail on the head. BMW has purposely underrated all of their turbo cars for this very reason. I would say that torque will be around 400 ft/lbs stock.

Closed deck = More boost = Race Car...:banderas:
