Just taking into account all of the major sports, this past year has pretty much been the best in recent memory, by far, when it comes just to the championships...
You had the NCAA Championship Game last season coming down to the end with clutch plays, UNC hitting one of the craziest threes ever to tie the game up, only to have Villanova come down the court and hit the 3 to win the title at the buzzer.
Then, you have the NBA Finals, where the all-time winning 73-9 Warriors are up 3-1 against the Cavaliers, with the generational best player in the league, who come back to tie the series at 3-3, and then win Game 7 by 4 points thanks to an incredible block by LeBron and an incredible clutch three from Kyrie Irving.
Next, we had the World Series, where two teams with historic streaks of not winning the title - Indians and Cubs - meet, and similarly to the NBA Finals, the Indians go up 3-1, only to have the Cubs come back and win the final Game 7, in extra innings, in an incredible game, ending a century-plus long championship drought for them.
After that, we got the NCAAF title game, where undefeated Alabama and No. 2 Clemson fight down to the end of the game, with Clemson pulling off the upset in the last minute of the game. Wild.
Finally, we had last night's epic Super Bowl.
And I'll throw in the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev fight into this whole situation, since it was the most anticipated fight of the last year and lived up to the hype every bit, no matter who you really think won.
I don't watch hockey so I don't know how good it was this year.
I was just thinking about it, this shyt is crazy. And maybe it's a prisoner of the moment thing, but I really can't remember a year like that, just from the standpoint of championship games.
