I'm ready for the republicans to drive this country further into debt. It's one more thing I don't have to hear about from them during the campaigns and will hopefully lead to real discussion about lowering our military spending.

It's not going to pass, as currently written. Tax REFORM is nearly impossible in this country, hence why it rarely happens. The deductions they're eliminating will raise taxes on a lot of people, including a lot of white folks in NY and other states. Hence why NY republicans in the House are threatening to torpedo the bill. Then you have deficit hawks upset about the small business full expensing idea, which will explode the deficit. Not to mention they might tax 401ks to "pay" for this, or getting rid of mortgage deductions which are very popular etc.....

I'd bet money this ends with Trump passing a tax CUT, similar to Bush, that sunsets in 10 years. Way easier.

I believe its social security and healthcare that are the real issue, not military spending...

That said military spending is higher than it needs to be.:manny:

You suggested they should really talk(seriously) about military spending, but military spending isnt the real issue in my opinion.

Our nations spending problem... or what I believe to be a spending problem.
The defense budget dwarfs both social security and healthcare spending...what in the world are you talking about "it isn't the real issue?"

I'll figure out how im reading this wrong and get back to you.

:hubie:I'm not afraid to be wrong.
Actually you may not be entirely off base.

The problem with this discussion is differentiating discretionary spending vs mandatory spending. Social security and healthcare are mandatory spending items that are budgeted on based off of some formula in regards to age and income level. While defense is based on appropriations.

I need to dig into this a little more.
