I don't think there is a year that comes remotely close to the amount of high quality top tier rpgs we got this year. Granted some are remakes, remasters most if not all are brand new experiences.

Final fantasy 7 remake 10/10
Persona 5 Royal -/10
Yakuza 7, Like a Dragon 10/10
Wasteland 3 10/10
Xenoblade chronicles definitive 8/10
Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition 10/10
Cyberpunk 2077 ??/10

And this isn't counting PC rpgs and mmo's.

I doubt we get another year like 2020 for RPGs again anytime soon, if ever.

I personally wouldn’t count DQ XI S for this year since it is essentially a port.

But still this year has been flames for RPG’s considering Royal brought enough new stuff to make it worth replaying Persona V. This was essentially the majority of people’s first experience with the original Xenoblade. And obviously FF7 R while technically being a remake is a unique experience. The others are new games.

I would give a mention to Trials of Mana haven’t gotten to it yet but I heard it supposed to be pretty good as well.

Next year ain’t looking too bad as well.

Lol what. You listed 7 games, half are either remakes/remasters. Just off the top of my head 98 has it beat. I think it is way too soon to call it the best year ever.
