Great move getting out of Nimmo’s deal, but it sucks he won’t retire as a Met. Hopefully Alonso is this generation’s Wright.

Nimmo probably begged for a trade once Mandami won the election. Wanted to run to MAGAville with Jake.

Hearing the news about the trade got me remembering this from a few days ago. I thought Ottavino was taking shyt, but maybe Nimmo wasn't as happy with his place on the team as he let on.
If run prevention is Stearns goal, it would be difficult to accomplish with Pete, Soto and Nimmo playing the field. I like Nimmo and he was a good Met, but out of the 3 he was the most replaceable. McNeil better be practicing with a 1st basemen glove. Only way I can see him on the opening day roster is as the defensive 1st basemen. OF, 2nd and 3rd won't have any spots for him.
It's also crazy how both deGrom and Nimmo played with Wright and ended up in Texas. I can't think of any other active players who played with Wright.
Was curious and learmed that the Mets play the Rangers in the second to last series of the year.

Lots of interesting options to replace Nimmo.
McLean will love having Semien/Lindor behind him. I also wanna say that run prevention starts on the mound.

With this trade done, the best outcome this winter for me is the following:
Get a Frontline starter(Skubal or Alancantra)
Get a solid innings eater
Retain Pete and Diaz
Sign Bellinger or accquire an OF thats better than Cody
Even if they do everything sans get Bellinger; I'd be happy.
