During a recent investigation of a cemetery near the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman it was revealed that there were 215 unidentified bodies behind the penitentiary, ranging in age from 14 to 99. The investigation also found that the bodies had no documentation, and that there were no grave markers. It is unclear how long they have been there and what happened to these individuals.

a few major news outlets have reported on this case. CNN, The New York Times, and BBC News have all covered the discovery. It is surprising that there hasn't been more media coverage, considering the gravity of the situation.... but we know why this story hasnt blown up nation wide

a nonprofit organization called the Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting led the investigation and reported on the findings. I reached out to them & they said the findings from the investigation of the cemetery behind the Mississippi State Penitentiary were released only recently, so it is possible thats the federal government has yet to respond.
