Hyannis man splits $61 million Mega Millions jackpot | Money - WCVB Home

BRAINTREE, Mass. —
A 22-year-old Cape Cod man, whose girlfriend had just broken up with him, has claimed his $30.5 million share of Tuesday's multi-state Mega Millions jackpot.

Massachusetts Lottery officials said Wednesday that Sandeep Singh of Hyannis, who has been working two jobs, plans to buy his family a house and go back to college with his winnings.

Singh had been working at Best Buy and Citizens Bank. His winning ticket was one of four Quick Picks his sister had picked up for him.

He decided to take the one-time lump sum payment of about $23 million, about $16 million after taxes.

Lottery officials said he came to Lottery headquarters outside Boston late Wednesday afternoon with his mother, sister and niece. The winning ticket was purchased at the AM/PM convenience store in Hyannis.

Singh said he was heartbroken when his girlfriend left him, but is "suddenly starting to get over it."

"She broke up with me. But right now, I'm not really worried about it. I was heartbroken at first, but now I am getting over it," he said.

The other winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket from Tuesday's draw was sold in Fresno, Calif.

A Boston man won a $32 million Mega Millions jackpot last year.

Do we even need to say :win:?

The key is to see how he responds in the future. The broad might be conniving enough to hit him up on some "I made a mistake", even though it would be obvious what her hustle is. Some weak minded dudes would be worn down over a period of time, while others would be quick to hit the :pachaha: and keep it moving.

I do look forward to stories of him reveling and living fat while the broad looks at him like :dwillhuh: thinking about what might have been.

I would rather my name in the article, but besides that, this is the kind of lottery story I like to hear. That money is going to make a difference in his life. Dude worked two dead end jobs and now has the opportunity to have a career :noah:

:heh:

He just got 16 mil AFTER taxes. He never has to work again ! :damn:

Tough spot cause now he'll have to sift through all the birds in his city that will be after him, mainly cause of his new found riches.

Think that will push him back to the ex. Hopefully homeboy will just relocate and live that life.

Funny story, but what if he was a bad boyfriend and deserved to get dumped? What if it was a complicated situation and the boyfriend agreed with the breakup, even if he was heartbroken? We'll never know. I'm not surprised that the misogynists/closeted homosexuals of TLR automatically assume the woman was at fault or a bad person, though.
