Plano molester used Snapchat, Instagram to prey on at least 9 boys, Allen police say

A Plano man's arrest last month on allegations that he molested a child has inspired several other parents to come forward and prompted police to seek out other potential victims.

Dontarious Jamal Scott, 22, was initially taken into custody Jan. 9 on a criminal trespass charge, police said this week.
Further investigation led to charges of sexual abuse of a child and online solicitation of a minor.
In the month since Scott's arrest, Allen police Sgt. Jon Felty said, several parents have called in about Scott's involvement with their children. Police have identified nine victims, Felty said, though Scott faces only two charges so far.
In December, a mother called police when she noticed that a man, later identified as Scott, was asking her son for explicit images on Snapchat, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The son sent the pictures out of fear he would be harmed because Scott told the child to send them "or else," the warrant states.
In January, while officials investigated Scott on suspicion of online solicitation of a minor, they uncovered a conversation he had last year with a child on Instagram, according to a warrant. Scott offered to give a child vaping equipment in exchange for sex, the warrant states.
The child's father took the boy to a child advocacy center where he said he was sexually abused by Scott on three occasions starting in November, the warrants state.
Police say Scott was "very active on social media," especially Snapchat, using it to prey on boys between 10 and 15 years old.
"Parents need to really monitor their kids," Felty said. "They should never be unsupervised on social media or out in public places. Monitor, monitor, monitor."
Scott remains in the Collin County Jail in McKinney with bail set at $350,000, records show.
