Actually READ what i'm typing breh.

How did you NOT know that multiple head injuries could lead to issues later on in life?

Just cause you didn't have a general understanding of what CTE was, doesn't mean that you had no clue that a bunch of concussions and being knocked unconscious could have you fukked up later in life.

When you're a player, you think, "Yeah, if I get knocked unconscious, or I get like seven concussions, maybe something like that would mess me up." Not normal play.

Until recently we never knew that even just regular hits messed you up. We didn't know that sub-concussion hits, just playing ball normal, could damage your brain for the rest of your life.

I was a smart guy, getting degree in biophysics, playing outside (sam side) linebacker, had no idea that regular play could disturb my ability to think years later. And no one else EVER said anything about it to me. No one ever once said, "You should hang up the pads, you're ruining your brain."

As far as I know, I got lucky and blew out my knee before too much damage could accumulate. It seems like my brain fine. But I still am living with a messed up knee for the rest of my life.

I had to quit basketball when I was 28 because too much damage had accumulated in it. That's what two years of college ball can do.:mjcry:

yea... if you're some rich millionaire or bo jackson

you act like this shyt is easy. oh just learn baseball.. first off you one of the few thousand out of millions to get a college roster spot.... then you're one of the few hundred out of 6000 some college players to even get drafted...

and you think a player like that can just as easily play baseball and make it or any other sport? some of these football players did try other sports... shyt most played multiple sports since middle school. at some point they were told, you're not good enough, and that other shyt was cancelled

now skip to what most of these kids are.. broke young black children. who get to middle and high school and are told, hey you might can make it. you might make MILLIONS. i think you got what it takes to be in the NFL

they ain't about to pass that attempt up. for what? they ain't all book worms or smart. they ain't all going to get great jobs and make 60-70k a year. at the least, they can get to college and get a free degree. at the most, they can save their entire family

ain't no different than coal miners risking their lives or people who have high risk jobs or military out there fighting wars for a check.... if someone said you can make 20 million but the risk is you may end up killing yourself at 50 or you may be competent like deion sanders or phil simms.. what you gonna choose?

Why would I? The guy who first found CTE in football players, didnt discover it until 2002. The NFL didn't recognize CTE as a disease that affected football players until 2011. So why would ANYONE before that be thinking that multiple concussions in games could lead to a degenerative brain disease when these findings weren't yet known to the mainstream public?

But I get it breh....you're a genius and you know more than everyone else. You knew as a little kid that multiple hits in football could cause degenerative brain diseases eventhough everyone else was just afraid of getting paralyzed. You called it breh. You should be out there solving humanity's greatest problems instead of being on here arguing with us. Go do your thing breh.

cause the reward is way better than the risk

avg american won't make 1 million total in his entire working lifetime. while thousands of people are made millionaires every year, just for playing a sport. the risk is dying early, losing memory, going crazy by 50.. but those are the extreme cases.. the reward is you never having to work again, IF you handle your money right, even as a bum. and the highest high is your entire family never having to work again, IF you handle your money right AND you become a huge star

How many NFL players never have to work again? Don't most of them flame out of the league with just a couple years of low-level paychecks anyway? When you take out the money they had to pay for agents, trainers, travel, and all that shyt, not to mention typical young guy spending mistakes...some HUGE percentage of football players are already having financial problems 5-10 years after retirement.

It's a very rare player who never has to work again - out of high school players, you're talking not even one in a thousand who will hit that jackpot.

Live your own life
He never wanted to play anyway

We(Ravens fans) all saw this coming

Dude rode the bench for 3 years collecting checks but when it was his turn to start he retired

I just wish he did it back in February before free agency or the draft instead of waiting til the day training camp started like a bytch
Sometimes isn't about the game. It's about making enough you need and cash out while your health is intact.

Smart man.

People make dumb jokes about linemen but O-linemen straight the smartest dudes on the team other than some quarterbacks. It's one of the few positions where you actually have enough time to think about what you're doing rather than just reacting, and they make a lot of decisions on every play.
I think overall they're the highest paid.....

You knew that if you hit somebody hard enough in their head, you could disorient them, make them lose their memory, knock them out, make them posture...and even kill them....but you had no clue that it was possible for their brain to not function properly because of head trauma

Maybe you didn't know what CTE was... but to say that you couldn't reasonably make that connection is bullshyt.

That's cause they are usually idiots. Which goes back to my first point of why most don't give a fukk about injuries. They know they ain't gonna make 1 million in the real world. Fact is, most Americans never will make 1 million after taxes. That's 32 of making 55k before taxes. Most ain't

So it's their own fault they can't live off that. Nobody tells them to buy ignorant size houses and party big and have nice cars and do the extra shyt. Manage your money, invest intelligent, and be looking for your after NFL moves from day 1.

The same people saying they'll tell their son the danger and teach him why not to play, sudden can't tell that same kid to manage his money and get out the game early? Or play through college and get a free education in something important
