Ronald Jones of The Flaming Lips deserves mentioning. Somewhat mysterious figure, as he made 2 albums with them during their era as a more guitar-driven psychedelic alt. rock band in the 90s then completely disappeared from the music scene. His bandmates described him as a cross between Kevin Shields and Miles Davis. He was wildly inventive in terms of his use of weird fuzz tones and noisy effects to create dense psychedelic textures, dude made some sounds that I've never heard anyone else replicate to this day. Still an influence on all the shoegazers and experimental guitarists with a million pedals.
