...damn, it feels like we lose a fellow texan to the sport like every 3-4 years. my heart goes out to the little homie's friends and family.

Only thing that was holding it back this long was that nikkas rarely die (or at least the stories were rarely picked up)...pretty sure we had a few deaths this year

deaths from neck injuries are very rare in football. there will always be inherent risks when playing the game, but this goes to show how important coaching and technique are to safety.

that said you cant do much to avoid the debilitating bone and joint injuries that don't get much attention. not to mention cte. i just don't see much longevity left in this sport, not the way we know it.
