Of this music sh@t...Hands down. Period.

A lot of shenanigans happening in the world and there is ZERO soundtrack for it...Who is making music that will accurately reflect these times when we are old and grey?

Imagine that...30 years from now, kids will be told "Paanda" by Desiigner was the greatest song in the world, and they are going to think the world was all "fun and games and silly"

Sh@t is CRAZY...Listen to the music of the 60s and 70s, they REFLECT that time period...You can study the history of the 60s and 70s by just listening to music and paying attention to the lyrics...

Compare that today, are people just going to the strip clubs and wasting money, is this what's really going on in society right now? Is the strip club the most pressing issue shaping the future of the world right now?

On a mainstream level yeah you're right but when Pac was dropping songs like Trapped, Brenda's Got A Baby, Keep Ya Head Up, Holla If Ya Hear Me, etc Mc Hammer and Vanilla Ice were tearing up the charts ...pop music has never been about shyt ...

fam ill be honest, soul music from the 60s and 70s reflected the world they was living in very nicely, but you have to remember that to get to the real shyt you had to sift through love song after love song .... there was only a handselected few that could make majority real music and keep the love shyt to a minimum, and those days you cant recreate

the same shyt now was happening back in the days, for example, look at Billy Paul ... he passed away recently and all the headlines said was "Me and Mrs Jones singer passed away" ... that song was about adultary and was his best known song when really and truley this dude had a gang of songs out there talking about god and the oppressed world we live in, you dont hear that though

its the same way the AEOM album is the most known Pac album even though that was his most negative.

Some good points in this thread, that's why artists like Pac, Bob, K-Rino, KRS, Nas some of the greatest ever cause it did reflect the time period and what was going on. Certain shyt will fade out and be just in the moment shyt and certain shyt will last forever, that's what has the real value.

Many artists that make a massive impression in various genres are one's that represent a the time period and what was going on, can be in various ways. A lot of music now in the mainstream is microwave shyt that's there for maybe a year and then it's done with pretty much, certain music that is overlooked now will still be able to be listened to in decades time while the music without substance or any great level artistry will die, for instance something like Nas' album with Damien Marley, did well but that's an album that hopefully will get more and more appreciated in time because it had a lot of substance and artistry to it and it sounds much better than a lot of the music that was dropping at that time not about anything, that shyt has a sell by date, real shyt is timeless.
