Police: 3 kids wanted for murder and home invasion in Florida arrested in Georgia

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — Three young people wanted on murder and home invasion charges in Jacksonville were arrested Friday in Georgia, according to the Kingsland Police Department.

Officers arrested the group after spotting the black Honda Accord they were traveling in, going 96 mph on Interstate 95 just before 11 p.m. on Friday.

Authorities tried to catch up with the car that was being driven by a 12-year-old boy, but police said the car sped up to at least 120 mph and did not stop.

Officers were able to stop them after deploying spike strips when the car left I-95 onto St. Marys Road.

The police department detained a total of four people out of Duval County, Florida: three boys ages 12, 14 and 15, and a 15-year-old girl.

Officials checked the car’s registration and learned the car was reported stolen out of Jacksonville.

According to police, the driver and two of the passengers have active warrants for their arrest for home invasion and second-degree murder in Duval County.

All four kids are currently being held at a youth detention facility.

In Georgia, the 12-year-old faces the following charges:

  • theft by bringing stolen property into the state
  • speeding
  • reckless driving
  • fleeing and attempting to elude
  • fugitive from justice
The passengers are being charged with theft by receiving stolen property and with fugitive from justice, in Georgia.

Our sister station, Action News Jax, is working to learn from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office which home invasion and murder the other charges are tied to in Duval County. JSO sent us the following statement about the arrests:

“It does appear at least two of the subjects located in the stolen vehicle in Georgia are tied to an active investigation here in Jacksonville. Detectives continue to work diligently to identify those that may have played a part in the crime. As such, we are unable to provide additional details into the investigation at this time – to do so would impede further investigative efforts, arrests and/or prosecution.”

They reported last week on a home invasion where a man was shot and killed at a Jacksonville home on Huron Street, after the family said a group of kids broke into the home.

I stopped reading when I saw mention of Action News Jax. That’s our Fox affiliate. They love throwing some nikkas out there and their stories are biased as hell.
