I would love to know how many seniors died per day in Italy last year, due to pneumonia related complications. So we can make a comparison.

Can't find it online.
According to this article below, from start of flu season in October 2019 through the date the article was published (late January) there were 245 flu deaths in Italy. Corona took out more than that in one day.

about 4800 people in Italy died from pneumonia related complications in 2017. They now stand at about 2,150 deaths due to Coronavirus and we only in March.

I've spoken to two people (Italians) that have visited Italy a few times and they both said that it doesn't help that Italy's sanitary (including their version of a sanitation department) conditions are amongst the worst in Europe.

I've never been to Italy, so I wouldn't know either way.
