So how fukked is the construction industry? Honestly I don't see this being used all that much. Not in the US anyway.

It's being used quite a bit, actually. There are entire 3d printed neighborhoods.
I want to put an in-law suite in the back of my house and with the price of materials nowadays it's looking like about $80k-100k for 800sqft. Thats fukking insane and that's with me building most of it myself. I wish I could simply get it 3d printed and call it a day.
