might want to google the Gulf Of Tonkin if you think LBJ was great. He did some great things in terms of liberal policy (Civil Rights Act, expanding Social Security, anti-poverty measures, works programs, etc) but I can't give him a pass for fabricating evidence to support the escalation of a war that should have never been waged. It tore the country to pieces.

But he didn't do shyt except begrudgingly sign bills that popular pressure from sustained movements put on him and the system. He wasn't some benevolent who was all at the prospect of greater rights for Afrikans.

Respect the people who actually fought for rights and a semblance of freedom, not the representative of the system that only gave concessions when forced to.
