Rules - each day we will watch and commentate on 1 Floyd Mayweather match in progressive order. Each day the first person in the thread will post up the new video and begin the discussion. We will analyze Floyd in the current fight at hand and discuss where he was in his career development, discussing various progressions of skills as we go. This discussion will be complete with the discussion of the Mayweather/Berto fight on July 25th

Day 1/Fight 1 - Floyd Mayweather vs. Roberto Apodaca

Result - Floyd wins by KO

In this fight we see a more aggressive Floyd, he takes less time to feel his oponent out and essentially just goes for it out the gate

This thread will flop. The only reason he had success is because so much holding is allowed. If refs gave a warning for your first hold, then pt deduction for all holds after that, PBF's career would have been average.

Mayweather in attack from the opening bell but still careful. He's waiting for the openings, getting his timing down. He later starts feinting the jab and once Apodaca leaps in Mayweather touches him with either the right or the left hand.

His stance is very consistent Apodaca doesn't know what punch is coming next. Any fight with such a difference in speed would look like this.

Mayweather damn near broke Mosley arm when he stunned him. Floyd probably clinched more than he jabbed in his career.

Day 2/Fight 2

Mayweather vs. Reggie Sanders

I feel bad for Reggie. It's his third fight and he's already on a 2 fight losing streak, soon to be three after this one. At least he made Floyd bleed his own blood (headbutt). Reggie went for the headbutt again and again.

A four round decision for Mayweather.

Day 3/Fight 3 -

Mayweather vs. Jerry Cooper

Mayweather knocked him down with a jab to the body brehs :banderas:

The improvement in Floyd between the last fight and this one is stupid dumb big. Or maybe this mufukka was just horrible. Either way it was beautiful to watch.

The jab that knocked him down was great. But while the ref is giving him the count, you can clearly see his face is already marked up bad. I legit had to ask myself if he got in a fight that morning. The fight was only 40 seconds in! There's no way he could have taken that much damage that quickly. That lily white skins bruises easily.

This also marks the first documented evidence of Merchant and Lampley dry hating on Floyd.

but whenever you are trading punches you can run into the punch you are trying to counter too.

or you can throw a check hook. throwing a check hook is safer because you can use your feet to create seperation.
