I like to say thanks first and foremost for taking the time to answer these questions, highly appreciated, and will also point out that nothing will be altered, edited or changed when this is published online.
Wu-International: Peace 4th, how are you?
4th Disciple: WaSalaam!! I' ve been ok, just taking the bitter with the sweet, and striving for Greatness and elevation.
Wu-International: You released 2 digital albums (Steel Valley Project & One Mans Crime & Punishment) from your vaults; do you have more unreleased albums you plan to release to the fans some time soon or in the near future?
4th Disciple: Well actually the One Man LP is part of a Unreleased Classics Collection that I have, which includes the One Man, The Best of 740 project which has three (3) different volumes, and possibly a Shogun Assassin project with these vintage tracks that Me and Shogun Assassins done years ago. Im gonna release volumes one (1) and two (2) to the 740 project together as a double album, but Im gonna add some changes to volume one (1) as well.
Wu-International: Can you please tell us more about these projects you are working on?
4th Disciple: I have a compilation EP, and two (2) instrumental albums, an EP with our first UK Artist Detin8, and a EP with Artist Dezert Eagle from Staten Island N.Y.C., and of course The Best of 740 Double LP which will be following the 740 Mix-Tape, which is very high vibrational. The vision was to take it back to the D.j. and the Rapper on this Mix-Tape. The 740 Mix-Tape is definitely a classic in my opinion, but letz see what the fans say when they hear it.
Wu-International: Whats happening with the second installment of Freedom of Speech with you and Hell Razah?
4th Disciple: It has been pretty much impossible to finish it now with Razah's health condition. Inshallah things will be better in the near future.
Wu-International: What is the difference between Freedom of Speech and Ghetto Government that you and Hell Razah were both working on?
4th Disciple: Freedom of Speech is an Album and Ghetto Government was intended to be a movement when we first came with the original idea.
Wu-International: Frequency Enforcement Lesson #1 seems to be ready for some time now, any reasons why you have not put it out yet?
4th Disciple: Just havent found the right distribution venue to properly administer these projects through yet which has been a major hold up on everything. So we just may have to do it all ourselves which is cost effective.
Wu-International: In a recent interview Killah Priest hailed you as one to inspire the likes of Just Blaze and a host of new producers now, how does that make you feel?
4th Disciple: Well the respects are appreciated, itz no surprise to me that a lot of producers have studied Me, RZA & True-Master and have absorbed elements of our styles, and as such We are in a sense responsible for the development of many producers out there. But I also have respect for Blazes work too.
Wu-International: Priest has also hinted he would like to do another Heavy Mental 2 produced entirely by you, and possibly RZA & True Master, how feasible is this?
4th Disciple: Very! I have have been wanting to work with Priest again since Heavy Mental, but life has put us in different paths, and now time has come for paths to cross again and for the cycle to renew.
Wu-International: 9th Prince has been hinting a reunion of Killarmy, will your role still be the same as the producer of the group?
4th Disciple: I mean it would only be right and exact, and I know thats what the fans would expect, but its been hard to get everybody on the same page, SMH, but we will see if we can pull it off Inshallah.
Wu-International: Beretta 9 also suggested some time back that once Lord Superb was out you can all focus on the Orphanage project again, is this still the case as Perb has been out for a while now?
4th Disciple: When We were creating the Orphanage project it was more of a spiritual experience for us that evolved into music. But there will be no Orphanage album now.
Wu-International: You presented Tragic Allies some time back, whats good with the group?
4th Disciple: Haven't spoken with them for some time now, but they go in, they pretty much work constantly and have plenty material. They have good work ethic.
Wu-International: There is a song you produced for UK artist Shaka Amazulu the 7th that features almost a modern day representation of Gravediggaz (Priest, 9th Prince, RZA, Frukwan, Shabazz & Warcloud) How did this happen and will this be on any of your project?
4th Disciple: Shaka had hit me up on the net a while back and we took it from there. but you will have to somehow contact Shaka for a full length version of the track if its not online by now. Its not for my project.
Wu-International: If you had a chance to produce an entire album for any Wu-Tang general who would you choose and why?
4th Disciple: Hard Question as I admire all of their styles, but I would have to probably say GZA cause I think our styles would mesh well. But still thats a hard pick for me.
Wu-International: Your production over GZA would be genius, Are there any beats we know of that was an accident initially but came out a hit?
4th Disciple: Their are no accidents, and I havent had a hit yet, but I have many classics.
Wu-International: Great answer, Whats your creative process like, as in how do you approach a beat?
4th Disciple: Their is no one way to start nor finish.
Wu-International: What would you say is your favourite production equipments/tools?
4th Disciple: I'm pretty much using Reason and Protools these days, but still keep my traditional methods. I know a lot of people out there are against using Reason vs using an MPC, Triton, etc., but Reason works as any other Machine Ive been on. People can say what they want, but Reason is dope in my book. Some feel in order to make a so-called real Hip Hop beat you have to be on MPC etc. No matter what your using, it all depends on the creative mind using it. Someone can be on a MPC, Triton or whatever and make mud beats.
Wu-International: Have you considered producing outside hip-hop as far as rock, reggae etc goes?
4th Disciple: Yes, I actually do zone out, and I have these different creative zones in my archives.
Wu-International: Maybe its because we never get enough of it but I have to say I am also a fan of your rhyming is there any reason why we get to hear less of you on the mic?
4th Disciple: Well rhyming isn't really my department anyway, and so when I do get on the mic you best believe the energies were very high at the time and there was very inspiring People around. The vibe has to be Rite.
Wu-International: Will the fans ever see an album with you fully on the mic sometime soon?
4th Disciple: If I didn't lose so much music over the years from moving around so much there would have been a 4th album already. Most of the solo stuff I was working on I lost the drives that had the music on them. So I don't know about soon, but maybe some day in the future Inshallah.
Wu-International: When last did you see or work with The RZA or any members of the Clan?
4th Disciple: Itz been some time now. But I have spoken with Raekwon and Ghost, was suppose to get some work on that Wu-Block project. Would love to get on that, being that they are all some of my favorite Mc's.
Wu-International: If you could change anything about your career what would it be?
4th Disciple: I definitely would have educated myself more on business and how to operate companies. But all the experiences so-called good or bad were a part of my molding and development and was/is necessary for the perfection of self.
Wu-International: Do you still build with the Nations (NGE)?
4th Disciple: I build and/or communicate with Brothers and Sisters from many schools and/or walks of life.
Wu-International: On a different subject, what are your thoughts on Obama?
4th Disciple: Well I can say this, if the People are waiting for Obama or any elected official to make change instead of making change themselves, and studying the laws to really have a clear view of whats really going on opposed to whats propagated to them, and getting organized to make real changes, then they are heading for a surprise. The power is with the people. But the people do not have a proper concept of history nor over-standing of civics and jurisprudence.
Wu-International: In closing, do you have a personal philosophy about music?
4th Disciple: The Music is My Philosophy
but I feel like Jimmy Hendrix with it, I wanna make music that can heal.
Wu-International: Do you have anything else you might want to share with the fans that has not already been covered on this interview?
4th Disciple: Yes, to all fans who really love, respect and appreciated my art, please do not pirate it cause it does not help. And please stop downloading from these unauthorized websites, karma is gonna catch up to them. If you truely love the music you can support by sharing the links. Other than that, be on the look out for UK Artist Detin8, and Dezert Eagle from Staten Island N.Y.C., and of coarse The Best of 740 Double Lp which will be following the 740 Mix-Tape, and all other projects soon to come.
