AMD’s new highly anticipated Ryzen CPU has shown impressive performance in benchmark tests, propelling the company’s stock price from less than $2 to over $13 in a little over a year. Now a new test has found that a $1,780 PC running AMD Ryzen processors destroys a $5,660 Apple Mac Pro when it comes to Photoshop performance.

YouTube’s Tech Guy recently pitted a $5,660 Mac Pro running 8 cores at 3.0 GHz with 64GB RAM against a $1,530 PC with Ryzen 1700 running 8 cores at 3.0 GHz running 16GB RAM.

Upgrading the PC to 64GB to match the Mac Pro would have cost an extra $250, but as you can see in the test below, that wasn’t necessary:

Using a Photoshop Benchmark based on a Radial Blur action released by photographer Keith Simonian, Tech Guy found that an operation that takes the Mac Pro 15 seconds to complete only takes 8.8 seconds on the Ryzen-powered PC.

He then overclocked the Ryzen PC to 3.5GHz and was able to complete the test in 7.7 seconds.

“So overclocked Ryzen 1700 is more than double the performance of 8 core Mac Pro, which costs three times more,” Tech Guy says.

Apple apologized for its Mac Pro line this week and promised to release “something great” in 2018 for professional creatives. Based on the results of this Tech Guy test, it seems Apple has quite a bit of catching up to do.

All I know is @mamba remember I said AMD would rebound years ago? They got a chance to go $15 over the next year.

For all that talk, did I buy any stock? Nope, cause I am a bytch ass who talks the talk but can't walk.:mjcry:I could have caked nicely if I bought over the years when the shyt was $1-$2 per share.

Oh well. Plan to build a Ryzen joint after I get a new job and get out of debt this year.

The Truth
People don't buy Macs for performance, they buy them because it's "cool" to own one
No

They buy them because they dont feel like fixing and troubleshooting bullshyt every week...

Well at least that why I buy them

And if you pay 5k+ for a computer you're an idiot

Edit: and then this is about photoshop, who gives a fukk how fast it took to do radial blur or w/e tf it was theyre trying to do

they look cleaner, have a simpler performance system and a brand name...most people don't care about the "high tech" aspects of it...they perform good enough and don't get viruses...

The virus thing is a huge myth breh

You're more than likely to get a virus on a Windows machine mostly due to the market share. Hackers are trying to make money and since everybody and their momma is using a PC, hackers tend to create Malware and other tools specifically for PC's.
