That album still shipped gold. I was a sound engineer with G-Unit at the time. Interscope have signed one "gangsta" rapper since then. It was more about a shift in direction with the company than lackluster sales. Who's the hottest rapper now? Ross? The album you quoted has outsold every single one of Ross's records lil nikka, it wasn't just a sales thing. Sure, it had a part in it but it wasn't the sole reason G-Unit got dumped.

:comeon:

T.O.S. fell completely out of the charts sometime in late '08, at 241K units sold...it was never certified gold, let alone got anywhere remotely close to actually scanning 500K...Every single solitary one of Ross' albums has outsold it, considerably...what's the use of these boldface lies?

Just Some Numbers - XXL

G-Unit – T.O.S. – 240,700

The entirety of the G-Unit label got dropped because the releases couldn't sell enough to break even with the budgets that they spent on them, and ended up costing the label money....i.e. THE VERY DEFINITION OF FLOPPING....they had early 2000's boom era album budgets for albums that couldn't sell 300k total...50 explains it as delicately as he can here

50 Cent Talks New Album, Explains Why G-Unit Was Dropped & Possibility Of Working With Game | Get The Latest Hip Hop News, Rap News & Hip Hop Album Sales | HipHop DX

Among the topics 50 discussed was why Interscope Records dropped G-Unit Records. "The reason why G-Unit was dropped, so that the general public understands: the reason G-Unit was dropped from Interscope records was because the deal I gave them was so well-put-together for them that they were to receive $750,000 in advance on the next albums - each one of the artists. They gotta remove that in this climate of record sales."

More plainly stated as "G-Unit got dropped so that Interscope wouldn't waste more money putting out albums from acts they knew wouldn't come close to recouping...colloquially known as: flopping" ....the same exact reason damn near any act gets dropped...Interscope saw the writing on the wall after the 2nd Banks and G-Unit album flopped, and G-Unit was thrown in the bushes

Yes, I know exactly what I'm talking about...The RIAA gives gold certifications based on nothing but shipped units...and T.O.S. has no certifications...search and look for it yourself...it's not there

http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?content_selector=gold-platinum-searchable-database

Though at this point, your whole point is stupid even if you weren't lying...what sense does it make to harp on something "shipping gold", when you know good and damn it didn't come close to selling 500k...are hundreds of thousands of unsold copies of T.O.S. collecting dust on shelves and in boxes in the back of Best Buys across the country to save room for albums that actually sell, supposed to support the idea that it didn't flop? :heh:

I hate a hater...I mean, look at the thread we're in...50 laughing at somebody getting dropped from an endorsement...the fact that his ENTIRE LABEL got dropped begs to be mentioned and laughed at in turn...the same reason why I relish in the fact that he's flopping left and right and getting pushed back like 3 years, after an entire career of mocking other rappers for lack of commercial success and using industry tactics to get their albums pushed back...

More like the shift in Hip Hop. By the time Summer 2008 was there, all you heard was bullshyt 808s on corny hooks.:to: That gangsta boom bap shyt was long gone by then.

you got any good g unit stories? I saw Tony Yayo at a conference in Phoenix once. It was like 100 degrees and he was wearing a bulletproof vest under a hoodie. He was sweating his ass off and he showed the whole lobbby of the hotel through a clear glass eleavator the vest.
