yeah never was Ghost, it was someone in his crew. Sin? "Hasham punched mase in his face". I remember an interview with canibus, onyx, and sin rae and ghost from 98 where they kinda bring it up without saying names and laugh about it.

I remember it was two rumors going around that time, Ghost smacking Mase and Rae slapping Master P. I found the Rae/P one hard to believe though...
