50 Cent is suing Rick Ross for jacking "In Da Club" and rapping over it to promote his new album.
50 just filed a lawsuit in Connecticut ... in the docs he says his classic banger appears on Ross' 'Renzel Remixes' without his permission, and he used it to drum up publicity for his next LP.
50 seems to be retaliating with the lawsuit ... he wants Ross to pony up more than $2 mill for using his track.
Hip-hop star 50 Cent is suing rapper Rick Ross for using a version of his signature hit “In Da Club” on a free mixtape meant to boost Mr. Ross’s new record.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Connecticut, lawyers for 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, sued Mr. Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts II, for unlawfully using 50 Cent’s name and identity solely to advertise his own album, “Black Market.”
Mr. Jackson’s lawyers are seeking at least $2 million in damages and an injunction barring the use of any trademarks or work product created or produced by 50 Cent. The mixtape, titled “Renzel Remixes,” consists of two discs, came out last month and is available for download.
