And if you had the option, would you transfer your body into a mechanical body? A robot?

Nothing insanely superhuman. Maybe like the iRobot robots but with facial features to look like your younger human body? Would you be okay with not really being human and living *essentially forever? Or would you rather live your normal human life and die at a normal human time? I mean, you obviously wouldn't be able to have sex or anything like a normal human. At least at first. 50 years from now, technology will be impressive as fukk. I mean, look at what we were lookin at just like 10-12 yrs ago? Halo wasn't a thing, iPods were just being introduced, 8 gigs of just manliness, and 9/11 was something you still thought about every other day. Its crazy just how much the world has changed, and its not completely implausible that humanity will make that next technological jump.

Personally? I'd do it. I'd do almost anything to live forever. I don't want to have these few years of my life to be the only thing I get to see of this fantastic fukking world. Tech over the past 20-30 years have been jumping exponentially compared to what happened previously. I mean, before computer technology really became a thing, there really was nothing THAT incredible discovered for a few thousand years. And I'd say the past few decades, the shyt that has been discovered or found out to be true has been incredible. With the way technology is booming currently, its only reasonable to suggest that it'll continue expanding at a high rate. The future would be simply too cool for me to miss out on.

*I'd assume that future technologies would allow you to continue to transfer your conscious to new and improved bodies as technology continues to improve.

I wouldn't want to. I think the reason we can cherish things so much now is because life is so short. People don't even stop to smell the roses now, and I don't think anything would change, maybe for the worst if we could live forever. The wide eyed wonder that you see things with will be gone and then whats left? I think half of life being so short is so the world can change. If all of us are still around, where's the new mindset, fresh ideas? Imagine if all the same people were around from the 1800's. We would be so far behind in life...

I think the bigger concern is overpopulation and a lack of remaining natural resources which we are already have began to see the effects of now.

Life is not short. It just seems short because of our perception of time.

Well I thought about that as well, but I figured if we had the technology to live forever, we would also have the technology to better harvest and stockpile resources. I mean I'm totally against GMO foods and what not, but I'd be lying if I don't see the benefits in a sense of over population and ensuring everyone has food. By this time, I'm sure we'll be able to harvest water from one of the planets that has an abundance of it, or simply be able to recycle ours, or control weather, or SOMETHING!

You raise some good points but those privileges would be provided to the most well off first.

We'll see how it plays out. Given the OP's premise, we might not need to be such consumers.
