My brother had to file cause he got furloughed last week. He said the unemployment website here in FL crashed. He could not even file for two days cause the site was just like fukk it

Detroit sites took almost 2 weeks to get right. They had to change the way unemployment work here. And don’t have a issue with online and need to talk to someone. It’s almost impossible to talk to a human being because the phone lines are crashed during business hours smh

Thing is, while this pandemic is pretty game-changing, absolutely no forethought was put into this sort of scenario going down. The economy is built on “just in time” consumerism so all the fukkery is good till it grinds to a halt. How do you have businesses worth multiple billions asking for bailouts? Cause not every business stashes for rainy days. Consumer culture is spend spend spend with little thought to savings, and the country has been convinced that a lot of folks dont deserve decent wages, meanwhile the folks with the worst wages are UNIVERSALLY recognized as essential employees right now.How could any economy not be rocked by a global viral pandemic?
The student loans arent going to oay themselves, and anyone in debt will come out worse. There are systemic reasons this is going to be hugely worse than it needed to be. Healthcare or the lack thereof is the most glaring.
But none of those stats effect anyone on here

All seriousness, things are gonna get worse. When people start getting evicted, and getting even more desperate. Sending people a one time check for $1200 and upping the unemployment isn't gonna cure all this non-sense. They need to work on finding a cure and getting people back to work. I feel like all of this was planned
