In all likelihood, Logan Routt is the world's tallest quarterback — maybe the tallest quarterback of all time.
The senior from Cameron (W. Va.) stands 6-foot-11 and weighs in at 220 pounds.
Routt is 3 inches taller than the tallest quarterback ever to play in the NFL (Dan McGwire) and a full 2 inches taller than Michael Humphrey, who at 6-9 made waves as a high school quarterback last fall before choosing to play basketball for Stanford.
According to Cameron coach Scott ****, Routt is every bit of his listed height.
"He is a legit 6-11," **** said of senior signal-caller.
Routt is also a standout basketball player for Cameron. As a junior he earned third team all-state honors for West Virginia's Class A, the state's smallest classification (Cameron has an enrollment of 353 students from grades 7-12).
On the baseball diamond, he's Randy Johnson-esque. He took home all-state honorable mention honors for his work as a pitcher and first baseman.
Routt, who entered high school at about 6-5 and has grown 2 inches each year, had a hard time finding a jersey that was long enough to fit him this season. He fails to fit under the team's inflatable tunnel, and opposing fans want to pose for photos with him.
There's no place that Routt stands out more than on the football field, in cleats and pads. He is a full foot taller than the team's tallest offensive lineman.
In a remarkable contrast, Routt's favorite wide receiver target, Dalton Wood, is only 5-5.
"I always tell them a lot of quarterback-wide receiver combinations are a combined 12 feet, 4 inches," **** said. "But they do it in a unique way."
With the help of Wood, Routt has thrown for approximately 800 yards this season and has rushed for a score.
