6 years later and Redmans' Red Gone Wild is still a classic.

Red Gone Wild was dope but Reggie was a mature Redman album and dudes wan't really ready for that. I liked it better than Red Gone Wild, but the new joints he's putting out sound like pure fiery flames.

I'm gonna call spade a spade. That was just a bad album. Its one of those albums where you first hear it and being that its one of your favorite artsist you dont wanna admit the album was bad, but i'm gonna admit it. On the flip side....Red can do that tho....He's earned the right to drop 1 dud.

Remember this song being the first single for Reggie?

Didn't even know they had a video for this :gladbron:

Downtown Newark :blessed:

Damn I had no idea Redman even put this album I like many others were burned by the Reggie Album and I didnt really fukk with Malpractice I have to give this a listen

Two testimonys to the poor promotion behind this great album. How did Jay Z not stand behind this album like he did with Jeezy and Rick Ross first albums? That album had potential because the product was quality. Nas and jay Z just a few months prior had all of this hype behind their comeback albums Kingdom Come and Hip Hop Is Dead....Why couldnt Red get that same push?

:dwillhuh: Blackout 2 was pretty good breh

But yeah, that Reggie album was execrable

Back when this came out SOHH was fukking hostile towards it though. Definitely one of those albums that took time to sink in

I dont remember which Smack DVD it was specifically but I remember this video being the most memerable just from how gutter Red kept it...I remember thinking 'why is Redman still in teh hood like that?'....Also remember laughing at the crackhead doing the crip walk....This song was so raw it didnt matter that it was like 2 or 3 years old by the time Red Gone Wild dropped....

still a classic though? isn't the timeless aspect one of the key points in what make things classic in the first place lol

Be honest. isn't there an album you haven't heard in years that you might have put that "classic" stamp on and then to hear it years later you think "I might have jumped the gun calling this a classic out the gate"? I did that with Nas' God Son.....

I remember calling Red Gone Wild a classic first time I heard it due to my feelings towards Redman.....so to throw it on years later and for that same feel to still be there certifies it. side note: i cringe at that Pac and Nas collabo on God son....That was too industry for my liking but at the time i thought it was cool.

I liked Reggie better than Red Gone Wild or Malpractice, but that's just me.

Each to their own . But I honestly prefer Malpractice .

Walk in Gutta was probably one of my favourite tracks on Wild though .

This is a pretty solid album. Wasn’t crazy about it when it came out. Still bumped it at school but it didn’t hit me the same way Docs Da Name did. It’s comparable to Malpractice to me which is to say not necessarily classic Reggie but damn good anyway

Help me figure out OP since you did this thread.

If something is considered a classic the time it comes out and all that then what is the point of saying "Still a classic"? Ill never understand someone saying that shyt.

Dannnnggg OP took me back with this piff. I forgot the album actually existed until now. I gave it a good amount of spins during the time. The crazy thing about the album was the fact that it was supposed to drop years ago from the actual release date. I remember seeing the cover for it on numerous posters saying "coming soon", but it ended up dropping on some "here nikka damn" shyt. Like no promotion, nothing.

Not at all.

Been going back and listening to Red’s albums and I probably hadn’t listened to Red Gone Wild since 2008

But I was listening back to it yesterday and I quickly remembered why I don’t care for the album

Red had gotten super lazy with the metaphors, rhymes and references. His voice was different by this point too.

The lack of Erick Sermon beats; he only had two beats by him on here. He needed more Erick beats like “Rite Now”. Even though some of the beats produced by other producers were alright, there was some others that were just flat out bad with some of the worst rhyming from Red (“Pimp Nutz”, “Blow Treez”, “Hold Dis Bloaw!”, “Get Him”)

Malpractice was the start of Red’s decline but it’s still an average Redman album aside from a couple of a couple of beats and one too many skits

All that said, Malpractice was a way better album than Red Gone Wild.
