Heights and reaches don't win fights. Fighters win fights. This ain't short gang talking either.

It's about who can play into their strengths and the other's weaknesses. Whoever can make the other fight their fight usually wins.

That's true in fighting, fencing, war at the highest levels, aerial dog fights, etc.

Most of the best fighters were never always the tallest nor always the shortest - at least once in their career they had to either fight someone taller or someone shorter and had to use ring generalship to win. Andre Ward, Inoue, Usyk, etc. for example have put in excellent performances against taller and shorter fighters the same. If you don't think Jon Jones wouldn't wreck a 6'7" fighter who's whole plan is to jab and right hand from a distance with no in-close skills, then you're in for a surprise. shyt, Lennox Lewis fought a number of taller fighters.

At the end of the day it's highly difficult to close the distance and it's highly difficult to keep the distance. One is not easier than the other to do. One mis-step and that's basically it in both directions. Maneuvering to land a shot is maneuvering to land a shot.

I don't like these white commentators and white crowd watching two black men like it's a Mandingo fight...

But this don't surprise anyone who ever rumbled, plenty of taller and larger brothers take L's to nikkas smaller or shorter than them...

This dude's main issue is being 37 and 144 pounds at 6'4, nikka need to retire and gain some weight. Too light in the ass...

I'm 5'7, tallest nikkas I faded were in that 6'3/6'4 range, too. One got the shock of his life when he realized his reach didn't mean much, I was whipping his ass when we were on our feet then he got me to the floor and I couldn't overcome his reach/length. Another, couldn't fukk with my hands either, then he thought he was gonna toss me around and that backfired on him too, that was probably one of my illest brawls...

Both those dudes were in that 6'3/6'4 range, and slim, but I'd bet they were both more than 144 pounds. They were slim but they weren't skin and bones...

Probably the fade I'm most proud of is one I lost outright. nikka was 6'1/6'2, bout a solid 230-235, fam was cut up. He was undefeated on the yard, everybody knew he was a knockout artist. I went in the cell with dude, was banging with him with the hands. He was tagging me too but I was backing him up, I think he was surprised I was running with him because like I said he had a rep for KO'ing dudes....

We were eating each other's punches then some kind of way I slipped, he grabbed my jumpsuit and nikka threw me clear across the cell. I bounced off the sink and then he bodyslammed me, and I couldn't get up from that, he was punching the shyt outta me when I hit the floor...

I was one of few dudes he fought who he didn't KO, and I got alot of praise for running with him like that. I could never figure out how this nikka was knocking dudes out because he not Top 5 of hardest hitting dudes I fought, although he the most physically imposing. I could always take a punch, though...

Anyway I got fight stories fir days, I know I been in more scraps than 99% of this board. But nikkas shouldn't be surprised that a shorter brother could whip a taller one...

General rule of thumb here, and I'm not trained in any of the fighting disciplines. I am trained in street/jail/prison fights though, where we don't have the restrictions or guidelines of a ring/octagon...

General rule of thumb, taller dudes, gotta lean into the body. You can't let em use their reach advantage, because if they truly have hands, they'll pick you apart from a distance. Lean into their space, shorten the reach...

Yeah if you're a shorter fighter you have the better center-of-gravity. Physics dictates the taller fighter won't be able to turn as quickly. Footspeed, feints, etc. means that there are a world of tools at your disposal just like there are a world of tools for the taller fighter. It comes down to who can use what they got better.

Great post!

Why would you want to be 6’ whatever and be under 164? I’m not saying it’s unfair. It’s stupid to starve yourself just to have a height advantage. I guess at the end of the day, you want the “easiest” money or come in with an advantage? I can believe there are legit people who can’t gain weight, but mostly it’s for the reach.

Get your weight up and stop being scared skinny nikkas
