My 3 favorite sports figures as a kid were Jordan, Hogan & Barkley.
It's hard to find a thread around here now about any of these 3 without them getting shyt on.

It's more like a running joke. No one legit hates Jordan. Jordan is rude to almost everyone. You could be famous or a nobody.

I hear you breh..but I guess the shine wore off of me looking at human beings as heroes in that light. For instance, I love the philanthropy work that Clooney and Pitt do. As a young black man, Obama will always be an aspirational figure for me professionally, but I separate the parts from the whole. If I found out tomorrow that Clooney and Pitt were raging douches and racists, it would bug me out for a second but then I'd move on because I never looked up to them like that; I admire things about how they conduct their lives and use their wealth and influence to make peoples lives better but I wouldn't call them "heroes"...even as a kid, my heroes were freaking superheroes
Spider-man and batman will never let me down breh...and my real life hero, my mom, there's no way in hell she could ever let me down and she never did. I just feel like eventually we gotta realize the people we look up to, these "heroes," they're still only human and just like me and you, they've got their faults and some of those faults are huge. It doesn't discredit the good they've done or the people they've inspired, but it does just reinforce the idea that entertainers probably shouldn't be heroes..your man Barkley said it best: "I am not a role model"
