Is this better??

SANFORD, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - 17-year-old Trayvon Martin died seven years ago today after getting into an altercation with George Zimmerman in a Sanford neighborhood.

On the evening of February 26th, 2012, a shooting occurred in the Twin Lakes areaof Sanford. Martin was walking home from the store when he was confronted by George Zimmerman, who was a member of the Neighborhood Watch committee at the time.

The two became involved in a violent altercation. Zimmerman eventually pulled out a firearm and fatally shot Martin. He surrendered to police immediately and claimed that he opened fire in self-defense. There were no direct eyewitnesses to the shooting.

Following Martin's death, thousands rallied across the nation in defense of the teen's death. However, Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Martin. The jury was also given the chance to convict Zimmerman of manslaughter but did not do so.

Since you came in here dap fishing, I found a separate article just for you since the source is more relevant than the story

There's nothing to be nostalgic about. Black folks wouldn't have done anything to Zimmerman back then either. Comparing then and now basically tells us the value of Black life to Black people is still grossly minuscule, but collectively we've come to a better understanding that community temper tantrums in the form of riots don't accomplish anything other than leaving a mess to clean up.

This was the start of modern social awareness

Before this a lot of people were blinded because of Obama being elected, this and events following it woke a lot of people up

And I still can’t believe Zimmerman is out enjoying life, I understand people not wanting to throw their life away by doing something to him but if I seen him I definitely wouldn’t be able to stop myself from attacking him

I view it as the moment when the facade of post-racial America was violently shattered and black people from Generation X and on saw, with unmistakable clarity, the demons who walk among us.

Agreed.

You'll probably never run into him, as he deliberately avoids contact with black people as best he can, staying away from areas we frequent in great numbers. If there's any solace to be taken from the tragedy, it's that Zimmerman will never be able to enjoy the remainder of his life without constantly looking over his shoulder. :francis:
