Nearly 200 companies on Friday joined in a strong statement against proposals that threaten to restrict voting access in dozens of states, in a further sign of corporate willingness to speak out on social justice issues.

Joint Statement on Protecting Voting Access

April 2, 2021

The Right to Vote is the Cornerstone of our Democracy.
We believe every American should have a voice in our democracy and that voting should be safe and accessible to all voters. We stand in solidarity with voters 一 and with the Black executives and leaders at the helm of this movement 一 in our nonpartisan commitment to equality and democracy. If our government is going to work for all of us, each of us must have equal freedom to vote and elections must reflect the will of voters.

Our elections are not improved when lawmakers impose barriers that result in longer lines at the polls or that reduce access to secure ballot dropboxes. There are hundreds of bills threatening to make voting more difficult in dozens of states nationwide. We call on elected leaders in every state capitol and in Congress to work across the aisle and ensure that every eligible American has the freedom to easily cast their ballot and participate fully in our democracy.

Companies Condemn Georgia's Restrictive Voting Law Amid Pressure Campaign From Advocates
April 2, 2021

Corporations in Georgia and across the U.S. are taking forceful stances against the state’s new election law—which includes several voting restrictions

Charles Phillips, co-founder and co-chairman of the Black Economic Alliance (BEA), who helped draft and signed the letter signed by 72 Black executives, tells TIME he wants corporate America to realize this is a “national issue. It’s not just Georgia.” Lawmakers have introduced more than 360 bills that would restrict voting in 47 states as of March 24, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Phillips says he and fellow Black executives should leverage their financial power and political influence to help pass federal legislation to expand voting through Congress “or else we’ll be doing this 50 times” as well as “not fund legislators who are voting for these sorts of restrictions.”

McConnell: Big Business acting like 'woke parallel government'

Wait, so NOW the conservatives are complaining that business has too much power? Because they're exercising their own private business choice not to associate with bigots? You can't make up this shyt.

Atlanta University Center Consortium
Statement on SB 202

ATLANTA—April 6, 2021-- The Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) and its member institutions—Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College—believe the passage of SB 202 stands at odds with our values and our collective mission to advance social justice and equity. Despite the argument that the law expands voter access, for many in our communities, the “Election Integrity Act of 2021” will have a negative and tangible impact. The restrictions now in place will curtail voter participation in marginalized populations across Georgia.

The right to free and unfettered election is the very core of our democracy. As historically Black institutions of higher learning, we are committed to a community engagement effort to educate the citizens of Georgia and every community we touch about the impact of this legislation on their right to vote. We see this as our obligation, and we understand that this is how we strengthen our democracy and illuminate the path to justice, equality and a civil society where opportunities to exercise the right to vote are expanded.

Uncertain grounds
This is funny.
Not sure if you back this far, but it reminds me of when they relabeled French fries as Freedom fries.

I remember. Such a dumb backfire. Vilifying the French for opposing Iraq/Afghanistan lol. Theyd be better off rebranding Belgian waffles for Leopolds transgressions
