If you can binge-watch tv shows then you can listen to the progression of full length albums just the same. Even if you only listen to the "hot/popular" singles you'd reach the same place. There's no way you can listen from Roxanne Shante/Lyte/Latifah to Kim/Foxy to Nicki/Cardi/City Girls/whatever else is being upchucked on the masses now, and not see the natural progression.

Most female rappers are terrible today.
The 1990s female were better. Not a lot but still.
Lauryn Hill, Bahamadia, Jean Grae, Foxy Brown (Trust me), Rah Digga, Queen Latifah, Eve, MC Lyte etc. They could go hard.

There is one female rapper I'm loving. She's Kenyan, her name Wangechi. She raps mostly in English but mixes Swahili and Kikuyu with it. Check her out:

There's nobody that could be considered seriously in like a top 10 or top 20 rappers though. Somebody like Lauryn had the potential, but she doesn't have a discography to compare with anybody else who would be on the list.

For the same reason that women don't dominate politics, big business, stand up comedy and a bunch of other professions - not enough women are interested in doing it. This will probably never change.
