As a someone who's gone to Philly a couple of times, I like the easy accessibility of getting to the arena via I95 when driving down there.

Most of those other cities don't have 4 sports, and none of them have an area with all of their sports facilities next to one another. It was always a dumb idea for us. The Sports Complex was always the right place for it.

Now they can develop real, logistically sound plans for Market East. Hell, they recently revitalized Chestnut West. That ish don't look anything like it did 2 years ago when it was a dusty ghost block

I don't agree at all

The Phillies wanted to be near Center City before they settled for SP

The Sixers wanted Penn's Landing and then Market East before they settled for SP...which appears to be entirely financial

Philadelphia has never been progressive when it comes to economic development and this is another example...we can't have good things in the city without ppl not wanting to change...very MAGA-esquire trait

Ain't nowhere to eat at a good restaurant or club down by the sports complexes after a game :mjlol:

However, Philadelphia City Councilmember at-large, Jim Harrity, said he was disappointed in the surprise move. In fact, he said, he felt "bamboozled."

"I feel completely bamboozled,” Harrity said. "I'm not going to forget this... I feel they not only bamboozled me but bamboozled the citizens of Philadelphia and I’m not going to forget that.”

Harrity said he is upset that the city's schools won't get the promised money from taxes the new arena would bring.

The plan had been approved by Philadelphia's City Council late last year.

Of course you were bamboozled. If their secret meetings showed it would have made more money financially to be in Camden or in Delaware, they would have come up with different "reasons" and "benefits" to those communities being used as pawns.

It's never about anything more than the money in pro sports.

it's more than that if you understand philadelphia. The stadium will be built on top of every transportation hub going in and out the city. The subway the elevated line the regional rail and the Jersey rail. These billionaires are willing to upgrade the infrastructure without a city dime being spent.

Let's not add Market east been shyt since the 90s. The failed Indoor amusement park from Disney on down.

Let's add that neighborhoods get gentrify all the fukking time what's makes Chinatowh so special??? Blacks and minority get priced out the hood across philadelphia. This will force those racist surburbans to spend money inside the city now. Keep them cars home and use transportation

The city officials were bamboozled. The franchise got approach by Comcast and other billionaires once they seen the stadium got approval.

They will build a new stadium but it will be in the stadium district because they are starting a state of the art development of entertainment/E-Game stadium and other shyt down there. Supposedly Phillies Flyers Eagles and NBA commissioner got involved last minute.

Eagles planning another stadium supposedly as well indoor one. This is the rumor

What happens to Market East now with no Sixers arena and no Macy's? And how will Chinatown help to revitalize a slumping area?
