$5 trillion company, designing some of the most complex hardware on Earth.

411 WFH/Remote job openings, 900+ remote eligible, with salaries posted for many roles:

Why are these no-name hole in the wall $5 million companies making it mandatory that employees come into an office for work that is 1/1000 as complex?
Requiring employees to come back to the office is to encourage them to quit instead of doing layoffs which looks bad for the company.

I do think that was true at some point.

However at this point, with how many layoffs there have been, I don’t think many companies are worried about their image regarding cutting staff.

At the end of the day, I think a lot of companies are old-fashioned.

I do however know someone who has an inside source at a large tech company that lost a lot of their best employees to another large company because employees chased the bigger bag and quality of life. Apparently the move has really screwed the company over. Bidding wars like that for talent are healthy overall.

For what it’s worth though, I don’t think Remote Work at NVIDIA is easy. I honestly doubt people are goofing off on the clock.
