:hhh: He was awful in the playoffs. I remember Rubio needed a rest and all Exum had to do was give productive minutes. Didn’t even have to score. Just not screw up. A couple minutes and a couple turnovers later, he got yanked and they had to put Rubio back in sooner than they wanted.

And speaking of Rubio, Exum couldn’t even beat him out for the starting job. Exum’s probably their 8th best player too :hhh:

Exum still has a lot of potential. Not fair to just look at numbers and assume he's not any good, once he's fully healthy and getting consistent minutes I think he'll really show what he can do. He's only turning 23 next month.

He was the 5th overall pick in his draft class. So he made $16 million his first 4 years (only played 3). Now he's about to make $11 million a year. And he's not even a starter. If he never signs another deal, he will have earned like $50 million by the time he's 25-26 years old.

What's the incentive to get better? :russ:

I can't answer that, everyone's mentality is different. And I'll never see anywhere near that kind of money, especially by the time I'm 25 so maybe that will effect him negatively.

Obviously you'd think he would want to prove everyone wrong that he's not a bust, but who knows. We've only gotten to see one real season from him, and that's when he was a rookie. Other than that he's been battling injuries and not getting a ton of minutes.

I mean shyt, Fred VanVleet just got $9 million a year, would you rather have that deal or Exum's on your squad?

It's not really Exum. It's the current system. If I'm a high rated high school player, I wouldn't care if I ride the bench at the college level. All you have to do is get drafted in the lottery and then survive the rookie contract playing just good enough to get a raise. The NBA is very top heavy in talent and the all-star super star caliber players are either signing short term deals, or are stuck on teams players like Exum who are making way too much. Dru Holliday never average 20 points a game but he made $25 million last year :mindblown:

Anthony Davis is wasting his prime years behind shyt like that.

They should be giving contracts based on a players resume; not their potential. There is no reason why a veteran like Wade is out here playing for NBA minimum wage.

This is how you get a 67 year old bionic Kobe in the league.
