how did this happen, i thought the internet was killing sells, this shyt came out the end of 2008

This. You guys need to understand demographic. There's a large sect of people who do not download music for one reason or another: they don't agree with "stealing", they like to support they're favorite artist, they don't want to go through the hassle of downloading.
The idea that illegal downloading is what killed sales is kind of flawed imo, it's only part of the problem. Stuff like youtube and streaming have an effect. Why download when I can just pull up youtube and now spotify or stream on datpiff, livemixtapes. Also Single sales and itunes plays a large role, in the past singles moved and sold records b/c ppl would buy the album just for those singles, now you can just buy the single and kim. I wanted to make a thread on it but single sales are enormous (much higher than I thought they should be). For example Future only did 40k on the album but I Won has already sold 10k+ singles, that's somewhat surprising to me. Trick Daddy for some strange reason (Im guessing it was used in a movie) in the last two weeks sold 7300 of "Let's Go"
