This is Alliacious Mentor the young man that was attacked by the pit bull. He needs more plastic surgery, he had his first surgery Friday and his parents need more money for his up coming medical bills. Any monies will help.

Neighbor Lisa Washington said she saw the situation unfold while she was with her two grandchildren.

“The owner said he doesn’t bite, but every time [the dog] jumped on the kid, he got bit. So where’s his bottom lip, if he doesn’t bite?” said Washington.

It jumped on my face and bit my lip off, I didn’t know what to do,” said Mentor, before the dog was eventually pulled off.

“I couldn’t explain what happened when Lisa called my mom because I couldn’t talk,” said Mentor, who said he has not returned to school since the incident.

At the Providence Public Safety complex on Wednesday, Providence police officials — and the SPCA — heard from Mentor, his family, as well as the dog’s owners.

“It surprised me how he behaved,” said owner Curtis Palmer, who said the dog “Hercules” — a 4-year-old part Pit Bull, part Terrier mix, had no prior history of violence, and got along fine with cats and small children.

The dog was deemed “vicious” by the court, which means Palmer needs to insure the dog, microchip and neuter the dog, post a "vicious dog" sign outside of his home, alert the police if the dog gets loose, and cannot sell or give the dog away.


Washington said she broke a toe trying to kick the dog off of Mentor during the incident.

The family said they are grateful for Washington’s help.

“He’ll need more surgery — of course we’re concerned about costs,” said Mentor’s father Barnabus Kawreh, of his son's recovery moving forward.

A Providence middle schooler is recovering after being mauled by a dog when walking home with his friends last Monday.


Alliacious Mentor, 12, was leaving the Boys and Girls Club on the city's south side on Jan. 13 when a dog got out of a home on Sayles Street and went after the group.


Lisa Washington was also walking home with her two grandchildren when she saw the whole thing unfold.



"The lady opened the door to her house and once she opened the door that's when the dog came out and started chasing the kids," Washington said. "You don't watch something like that and don't do anything."


Mentor's three friends were able to make it safely over the fence into the Boys and Girls Club but Mentor couldn't manage to pull himself over.


"I told the kids don't move and Allacious panicked and the dog went after him," Washington said. "The dog was biting on him. Like every time the dog was biting on him I was kicking the dog I was punching the dog and that dog would not get off that kid."



The owner was eventually able to pry the dog off of Mentor, but not before ripping off a portion of his bottom lip.


"The way that dog was biting that kid like he would lock on him and just shake," she said. "It was horrible."


Washington was at a hearing Wednesday with Mentor and his family and the dog was deemed vicious.



"I'm just glad I was there because I believe it would have been much much more because there was nobody there to help him," Washington said.


Mentor's mother tells ABC 6 that her son had his first plastic surgery but still has two more procedures to go.

today we can be mad that a kid is getting less donations than a dog because he is Black but yesterday we were screaming HYON at hispanic victims of police brutality.. there's a contradiction on this site where brehs expect empathy from others but don't have it themselves FOR others. Society doesn't work like that. If everyone is holding their own nuts then apply those principles to helping out brehs like this kid not being mad when he don't get as many donations as a dog from cacs.

The dog needs to be put down. Once a dog bites a child there is no reasoning out of it.

That literally makes no sense, on top of not being true.
The dog shouldn't be around a toddler if it isn't trained, the owner is to be blamed.
On top of that a dog can bite anyone and be disciplined and trained not to do so again.
