Just caught up with that match and I agree. Great match. Could've gone either way. ZSJ got another good match next vs Ibushi. Sucks we won't get Shingo vs Naito next. Hopefully someday we will.

I was trying to get as realistic as possible. And there's no way SANADA and EVIL won't be part of the Climax. Eight foreigners is a lot and I don't think they'll tolerate more than that too. I'm not sure CM Punk would be a good fit for NJPW and especially the G1 after a seven year hiatus from pro wrestling.

EVIL and Sanada have both essentially been running in place for years at this point - I can see not wanting to bring in a ton of foreigners ordinarily, but there's definitely money to be made in a version of the tournament that's marketed as being a best of both worlds type deal with a heavy US presence. There's a precedent for it too - 1992's field was half WCW talent.


As for Punk, he literally said he'd be down to talk about going to the G1 with Tony Khan during his first interview after he came back. As thirsty as they are to pop in the West, I can't see Gedo turning that down.

If Gedo still has the book there's no question he's gonna use as much foreign talent as possible, and not only for next year's G-1.


Anyways, just realized today's show at Ota City barely did 800 people that's 400 less they did with A Block. Checking their schedule, the card they have for the first night at Budokan is fukking abysmal, I wonder how many will even bother with that show, specially considering they have the Finals the next day and that's the ticket worth having...it will also be very telling how many people show up to that final show too.
