9/26/2026 Netflix: Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao 2

I love Floyd Mayweather but I have to call a spade a spade. Although no one wanted to see it, pulling out of this second fight with Manny Pacquiao is going to do tremendous damage to his legacy. He's ultimately going to be remembered as a coward who never truly wanted to take risks and simply wanted to take the money and run.

I've always defended the second half of his career given the Cold War between Top Rank & Golden Boy/PBC and the tendency for promotional companies to keep things in-house but at this point, he's simply giving his detractors more fuel for the fire in their beliefs about him.

It's more about the optics of it.

A press release comes out saying he's returning from retirement, Netflix issues a press release for the fight, Manny is hype about and the first words we hear from you is that it's an exhibition. It just looks bad and makes him look cowardly, like he's afraid to risk his 0. No one wants to see this fight but the only things drawing us to this fight is it being a REAL FIGHT.

I just saw the Fight Hype video of Ben breaking down why the fight isn't happening and the shadiness going on so that changes things but we can't deny that without knowing the background story, everything surrounding this fight makes Floyd look BAD.

These guys are old and washed up. It might be entertaining but this fight means nothing to either legacy win or lose. Their legacies are already set.
