I was having a conversation about this the other day. Why is it there's a church and liquor on almost every street in the ghetto? My dad just replied shows you how stupid some are; the liquor stores are just taking money from those people who want to drink their souls anyway and the pastors and just selling dreams. :skip:

:ohhh: Everyone getting drained

Honestly... I don't think that's because of the bible.... I think its something in our DNA that makes us that way...... and I wouldn't refer to it as docility..... we're just innately divine, spiritual people...

Also, I don't think the majority of black people forgive in the manner that you're speaking... People on this site have a taken a couple of instances and applied it to 50 million people.... Doesn't work like that...... At the end of the day, the bible is a tool that can be used for anything, and christianpty doesn't even belong to the white man.....

Absolutely false. The problem is black people in America are a conquered race. We don't even think for ourselves. It's why no matter what a white person does, black people will always be there to forgive, give them the benefit of the doubt, and love them unconditionally.

LOL, whole article is bullshyt pseudo-history. Even with all those actions, only about 1% of Africans were Christians until 1860 according to the census. That amounts to roughly 40,000 people out of 4 million.

The vast majority of 'Black'/African slaves didn't convert to Christianity until AFTER the Civil War was over and/or they were freed.

The meme that Christianity was 'forced' on slaves is false due to the above reasons and this:

http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/acko/hd_acko.htm
In 1491, King Nzinga converted to Christianity of his own free will, urging the Kongo nobility and peasant classes to follow suit. To varying degrees, the Kongo kingdom remained Christian for the next 200 years. Scholars continue to dispute the authenticity of Kongolese Christian faith and the degree to which the adoption of a new faith was motivated by political and economic realities. From the time of Nzinga's conversion until the seventeenth century, Kongo leadership engaged in extensive communications with religious and political leaders from Europe, including the pope and other members of the Vatican, who accepted the Kongo church as orthodox.
..........
The Kongo kingdom was one of the largest in sub-Saharan Africa during this period; spanning over 115,000 square miles, it had a highly centralized monarchy as well as a powerful noble class. The urban nobility sustained its luxurious lifestyle through a heavy tax system levied on the rural peasant class. Bulk products from the provinces, including copper, salt, wild animal products (hides and ivory), as well as cloth and later slaves, were traded to the Portuguese. Conversion to Christianity solidified these important trading relationships.

The Kongolese nobility swiftly adopted Christianity for several reasons. The first is that the nature of the centralized government and the hierarchically structured society facilitated the dissemination of information. The translations of Christian doctrine into the local language, KiKongo, was done such that words like spirit, god, and holy were rendered directly equivalent to existing concepts in Kongo cosmology. Missionary documents from the seventeenth century claimed that they had found a people who believed in a single god but did not know his name. This tolerant version of conversion practice differs dramatically from the often violent Spanish equivalent in the Americas, which was based on a principle requiring a "change of heart." In parts of Kongo, Christianity was accepted not as a new religion that would replace the old, but rather as a new syncretic cult that was fully compatible with existing structures.

Being a conquered race doesn't have anything to do with us being a divine and spiritual people by nature....... I don't think most black people give white folks the benefit of the doubt... Matter of fact, I know they don't.... But when you're knee deep in a white supremacist, capitalistic society, and you're the minority, you have lil to no leverage......

and we as a people haven't been working on gaining some type of leverage for about 40 plus years now.......

And from what ive seen, Nat Turner's (and many other slaves) ancestors were most likely African Muslims.

Nat Turner was a devout Christian. 5% of African slaves were Christian, about 15% were Muslim, the remainder were animists/practiced 'folk' religions.

The reason I say bullshyt is not because we're a "divine spiritual race." I said bullshyt because the reason we're so forgiving of white people has nothing to do with divinity or spirituality and everything to do with conditioning. We've been conditioned since we got here to love and stand up to white people no matter what. I was listening to the audio of a former slave and she kept going on and on about how good white people treated her WHILE SHE WAS ENSLAVED.

During slavery there was meritorious manumission that rewarded slaves for protecting/defending white people and turning on black people (especially those who were running away or harming white people). It's not cause we're special and god's chosen people we are like this way. It's because we're conquered and have never received justice for our oppression.

That is due to the unique system of slavery coupled with 'White Supremacy' in this country than anything else. No other people on this planet had to endure what our ancestors did.

To say our present condition is due to the religion is to be completely oblivious to historical facts and submit to 'White Supremacy's ' version of history.

This is what I mean about 'White Supremacy'. The Meritorious Manumission Act of 1710 didn't just apply to Africans, but to the Irish and other European slaves as well since they weren't considered 'White'......

You know blacks couldn't read. Many didn't speak the same languages. You had children born into slavery. When you getting your ass beat who's not going to start waiting for the only escape do joy Heaven.

Nat Turner used Christianity to lead a rebellion.
