Death To Spookism
On the low, and people have tried to bury this under the rug.....there was a more blatant violation that occurred around the same time. Only dudes over a certain age will remember, but for the younger guys.....a lot of golden era artists took the check and turned the other way when ANOTHER white act came down the pike.

Founder of Nike had a wannabe son who tried to be a rapper. A straight clown, but they opened that checkbook and some respected artists worked on the project/cosigned him. (others ghostwrote)

Hate to do it, but since YBT thread opened the pandora's box...i gotta do it.

I know someone that was locked up with Kamron (the lead) in the late 80's early 90's. He said Kam told him he was a "rapper" & laughed at him but they were cool. Long story short he's watching TV one day & see's dude on MTV & started laughing in disbelief lol

It wasn't so much that they got away with it, it was becuz they were a non fukking factor
Exactly lol. I knew of that kid Jamal from House Party before I ever heard of YBT. They had that one song people might’ve halfway liked. Those guys were a non factor though. Not even worthy of a mention in hiphop history unless you’re talking about dumb shyt that happened lol.

Exactly, and I recall them really going by the acronym, YBT. Being white with dreads got dude a little burn with the urban crowd but only for a real hot second. And defense of the 90’s, outside of 3rd Bass I’m pretty sure the strict unwritten rule was 1 white boy at a time, we literally tapped cacs in like wrestling, like, milkbone, YBT have a seat, :ufdup:ok, ya go Stagga Lee... don’t get comfy, Marky Mark got that New Kids on the Block bag on deck:jawalrus:

That was the vibe back then. Gutter. Literally gutter.

Hip hop in the early ‘90s was you and your homies taking on claustrophobia head on in the darkest, coldest, dankest places. Either you were in a sewer or tunnel or you were swinging naked light bulbs in an abandoned warehouse with squatters staring at everyone like this :martin::upsetfavre::birdman::leostare:
