Seriously... think about it. these two movements are easily the greatest because

A they produced a shytload of icons and important cultural figures

B were backed by incredibly innovative approaches to music

And C were initiated due to politcal/sociological factors. So the energy fueling the two movements was real as fukk.

90s hip hop sounded RADICALLY different then anything that came before it. Easily one of the most innovative musical movements.

Ok I mean what Im talking about did start in the late 80s. I guess its more fair to just say hip hop in general was one of the most radical musical movements.. but it evolved so quickly in the late 80s... 88 - 96 is the apex, so thats what Im focusing on for the sake of argument

theres wayyyy more than 2 grunge bands and 95% of them were out wayyy before nirvana

not really, youre probably thinking of like The Pixies, Smiths R.E.M etc. Thats not grunge its alt rock. Another important movement tho for sure
