since the og dragon ball dub wouldn't be complete till years later was dbz confusing to you guys especially since yall didn't know of goku and piccolos rivalry or gokus friends/wife's backstories yet.

One of the reasons DBZ was popular besides the fighting was because the story was quite easy to get, a villain comes to earth and goku beats his ass, rinse and repeat

Dragon ball first would have did the series harm if you ask me. Most of us were about 8-12 when the shyt start going, and the type of comedy in Dragon ball probably wouldn't have appealed to us well cause its a lot of sarcastic humor compared to corny 90s humor we were getting in power rangers and shyt.

It was never confusing. The pain was the long waits of the episodes getting anywhere due to the large amount of filler back then. Especially when characters were charging up.
