Kool Moe Dee said from 94 to 99 outside of Lauryn Hill he didnt hear anyone as lyrical as Biggie until he copped Capital Punishment cd out of respect after Big Pun died...

he said he slept on Pun at first... seen Pun perform live and wasnt impressed so he didnt bother checkin for him

I would compare it to a thespian who sucks at live theater but can perform greatly in front of the camera (where editors edit out mistakes, outtakes, etc.).

Pun probably wasn't able to spit the shyt he wrote impressively, live, cause he weighed 600lbs. But he still wrote the shyt, that shyt was born out his mind.

Yeah, watching Pun on stage was always a chore... he could barely even finish a line and had 4 muhfukkas filling in his words. I could def. understand how someone wouldn't see what was so great about him if that's all they had to go on.

But then when you hear that album... :lawd:

I think it's a pretty dumb statement all around. Especially considering Illmatic dropped in '94, Doe Or Die came out in '95, and Reasonable Doubt came out in '96. You could make a case for Black Thought too.

B-i-g, g-i-e, aka b-i-g, get it? biggie!

Yea, because that's just so :mindblown:

I'd have to wonder how he overlooked Nas because Lauryn Hill (who was talented) is nowhere near as great of an emcee as Nas and I'd even say that for as nice was Biggie was (and the man was talented and one of the greatest) but not even he was seeing Nas lyrically. Nas is a lyricist's lyricist's and an emcee's emcee.

Now Nas wasn't the most consistent in the 90's after the release of It Was Written but lyrically, he always stayed afloat. Dude stayed spitting ill and dope sh*t. And of course all of these are songs from 94' to 99':

I agree with Moe Dee....I noticed a lot of other emcees will tell you that Lauryn Hill is one of the illest if not the illest male or female.

If Ms. Hill went all out I don't think any rapper could fukk with her....IMO

the thing is that ANYONE can go off on a rant about what THEIR opinion is...but to say mc lyte or lady of rage are better than lauryn hill is preposterous...if that broad wouldnt have went nuts there would be no question who the illest female emcee of all time is.

Biggie is more lyrical than a lot of other 80's rappers mentioned in here to. Nas is one of the illest of all time as well. alot of you dudes love to give your personal opinion when most of the time we need to focus more on consensus.
