He's speaking truth but unfortunately people view music as a free service these days and they will still be in line for those Jordan's and foams instead of purchasing 10 albums that should be supported.

I agree with 9th on that. If u can go to the movies a dozen times a year u can buy some albums.

first of all, plenty of people buying smartphones with money they don't have (credit) so just because people are posting from smartphones doesn't mean they aren't broke.

second of all, the reason people stay in line for jordans and not for albums is that you can't download good quality replicas of jordans for free. if you could, people wouldn't support Nike either.

if you can either get something for free or pay for it, the choice is yours, most people will get it for free and for a big segment of these people, no amount of shaming will change that.

the better way to get people to buy your music is to get them to buy into your quest. get them emotionally invested in your story. there is no money into selling music. the money is in the selling of emotions. for better or for worse, music is now free. if you wanted to make money by selling strictly music, you chose the wrong career path.

movies are going the same way too. lots of people only pay to go to the movies. but dvds/blurays sales will probably drop more and more. and with TVs getting bigger and bigger + big sound systems, and movie tickets getting more expensive people will probably go less and less to the movies as well.

Most information (sound, pictures, video, text) is pretty much free at this point. want to make money, i suggest you pick something else to sell. I'm not happy or sad about it though.

KungFu Fighting & kicks that are fast as Lightning
The only albums I would even consider paying money for these days is a new Nas lp, Biggie lp, Pac lp, Michael Jackson lp

but all them nikkas is dead except Nas so Nas is the only nikkas album that I "might" cop

and I haven't copped a Nas lp since Streets Disciple

People are not obligated to buy your music. Even if they consider themselves "fans".

People pay for Jordan's becuz they see value in owning Jordans. Unfortunately they don't value 9th wonder music the same way. Probably becuz he has no MVPs, he can't dunk and he never starred in Space Jam

This is a marketing/branding/distribution problem not a "black people" problem.

know what the problem is?

its fukking EASIER to download shyt then buy it :heh:
that's another thing as well. someone wants to listen to the new XYZalbum ASAP, even if he had good intentions in the beginning and wanted to buy it, it's more simple to download it first to listen right away. and then on first listen, you already have the album, your options are to either go to the store and buy the CD or go on itunes, download it, then do you have to use itunes or not to listen and manage the mp3s or you could just do nothing since you already have it...most people will just do nothing. and that's not even including the people who genuinely don't want to put their money into it.

seems like the only industry who has it figured it out is the videogame industry. they sell info on discs and downloads as well but you pretty much need their console to read the info and while bootlegging is possible, at this point it's a bigger hassle then just buying the game.
