*This is a long post. This is for the junkies

The shooting at Drake crib and rumors of OVO vs XO street beef highlights what a lot of people already knew which is Drake really is affiliated with all types of real Toronto beef.

Won’t get it into all that, and Drake ain’t the only rapper with street ties, but where Drake stands out is he flaunts it. And from a high perch. Where it gives the impression these street cats he’s outsourced are mere pawns.

That made me think of Nas’ :wow:verse on Purple. People always remember ‘I don’t like the way p Diddy did Shyne’ but that 2nd verse is the masterpiece. Kendrick’s 6:16 is similar

Kendrick: Ain't no brownie points for beatin' your chest, harassing ' and, f**kin' with good people
Make good people go to bat

Nas: You don't trust a soul, hold up, you moldin' soldiers, To pull guns quick and always look behind the shoulder

Kendrick: Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it….A hunnid n***as that you got on salary, and 20 of ’em want you as a casualty

Nas: The hood love you but behind your back they pray for the day, A bullet hit your heart and ambulances take you away

Kendrick: If you were street smart, then you woulda caught that your entourage is only to hustle you

Nas: You got a bunch of thugs with you even now that's ready
, trustin your judgment, quick to put it down, they deadly

Weekend bodyguard shot at, and Drake’s bodyguard shot weeks apart.

Nas: That ain't love, it's hate, think of all the mothers at wakes, Whose sons you killed, and you ain't got a cut on your face?

These aren’t all direct parallels as hopefully no one has died in any if these shootings. But it’s way too close to home, literally. Drake need to get it together

Only one part. Thats it.

Ehh. Kinda. I think the brilliance of that verse is it wasn’t purposely directed at one person, it described any far removed powerful cat who has the goons below him dying over stuff he started/was related to. It applies to countless dudes then and now

Puff, big
Puff, Shyne (jail instead of death)
Suge, Big Jake (or more accurately, Puff and big Jake)
50/Yayo, Lodi Mack
Durk, still mocking dead opps from his gated mansion while bodies drop in the trenches over it, possibly his own brother

Many more

It was targeted at kingpins in the hood in general.

I think Purple was targeted at Puff (Shyne), Supreme McGriff (E Money Bags situation) and miscelleneous QB elders.
