Does Progressive Patriarchy exist in Muslim societies?

Does it exist for Muslims in Western societies?

I mean Malaysia and Indonesia have pretty progressive and advanced countries but even they have their "conservative" swings in political power the same as America gets with the evangelicals.

Countries like Turkey and Iran just show how hard conservatism can go when the populace gives way to religion as defacto rule of law.
