Make only the most useful degrees that add value to society, free and charge for the useless ones

Discipline that qualify for free education
Medicine
Dentistry
law
engineering
Physics
Architecture
Economics
mathematics
etc

Useless degrees that do not qualify
Culinary arts
Photography
Hand embroidery (Yes that's an actual degree)
floral design
etc

If you want to chase your dream as a hand embroidery and master of floral design and management, go ahead but just don't expect tax payers to fund it.

I think that's a great compromise.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
It should be based on income. Low income families get access.

There should also be a grace period. A lot of people take out student loans to attend college only to realize its not what they want to do an never finish. After the first year you either have to finish or withdraw. If you withdraw you take on the debt.

There also should include GPA requirements. If your GPA drops, you would have to pay for that semester.

There are a lot of things you could do. This country has the most millionaires and billionaires who donate money every year. Why not set up foundations to solicite donations?

Just make public universities free. It’ll lower the cost of all colleges.

the real ambitious move should be the creation of a national college system to try and limit education deserts in the rural Midwest and south.
This.

Special funding for HBCUs and Indigenous universities. - All funding should be cut from for-profits.
