People confuse Blue Blood status and historical success with money.
On the field, Bama's success is better than everyone except MAYBE Ohio State (tOSU has been more consistent with fewer down periods).
Texas, ND, Mich, OSU, A&M....now you got Texas Tech throwing around paper. Bama simply doesn't have that kind of paper. SEC got money, but there's levels to this shyt. After the Texas schools, Bama and maybe UGA....who has $$$$$? Not just money but large numbers of alumni with big bucks?
AJ McCarron said what he said for a reason. He knows that Bama gotta get that paper up to compete. Pretending you're fine is a recipe for disaster.

Miami got that money and its not just having the money, they have to WANT TO SPEND IT. Every school probably has a couple billionaires but they didnt get that way by just burning money. Mario got a few in his back pocket that want to see HIM win, even in his family but a few in his circle. Soffers have ALWAYS supported the program but Mas brothers and a few more support HIM and make a ton happen. Collectives are nice and needed but you better have some BIG donors who support.

Donor Fatigue is REAL. These schools will hit you up and yea it can be a write off at certain point but then they want MORE and MORE. What is actual return on investment for someone who isnt into it like that? There was someone breaking it down but forgot where I saw it.
The money is there, they just don’t really care about football. Stanford/Cal suffer from the same problems

We still have as much talent as anyone but there used to be a huge gap between us and everyone else. That’s never gonna happen again. Just gotta be content with making the playoffs and having a chance.

Both of these schools made major missteps with hires in the last 10-15 years in football and basketball....specifically UCLA
Why should they take donations seriously when the AD's aren't even taking their hires seriously?
Not to mention, a lot of these kids simply aren't cut out to play in LA.
