So the "hints" have been dropping sparidcially since last fall. Before i get to what happened today lets do a quick history lesson!
Evo 2018 there was NO "Vs" game at all marking it the first Evo in history since a Vs game debuted at the event. With that said the director of evo did release a statement saying he's very aware that MVCI does still have a solid playerbase, However it's hard to support a game when the game itself is not being supported. He then later says that comment actually WAS NOT directed towards capcom, Leaving everyone to believe Marvel played a part in MVCI not being at Evo. This was also hinted at as well with MVCI not being part of the Capcom Pro Tour.

Fall of 2018 this was a major "Capom Leak" suggesting that not only is a new "Vs" title in development but that they are also doing R3MAKE and rebooting Darkstalkers and Dino Crisis. And as expected everyone said it's completely false and went about their day. Me included..
Here is the bit about a new "Vs" game
Capcom Leak Potentially Reveals Company's Future - DGR
MARVEL VS CAPCOM:
A new MvC game is currently being developed by MvC3 devs Eighting.
The game’s gameplay art style will be similar to that of MvC3.
The roster will be bigger than Ultimate MvC3 at launch, and 1/3 of the characters will be new.
MvC’s new game will not be connected to MvC Infinite, but the story will be based around a convergence, like in Infinite.
Now what makes me suspect that this has merit is for multiple reasons. One, the SAME leak successfully predicted that they're doing a remake of Resident Evil 3 before it was confirmed(Granted everyone knew this was coming)
Two, it also said they're doing Dino Crisis and Darkstalkers, which seemed improbable and something that people marked as fake... except this was before Capcom registered new trademarks for them. Considering that Capcom has stated they want to revive dormant IPs, that says a lot.
Capcom files new trademarks for multiple games, including Dino Crisis
So fast forward to earlier this month and Marvel 2 is announced as a MAIN game for Evo 2020. Obviously this means that at the very least Marvel is allowing the series to appear which means they are back on good terms with capcom. And even though yes Marvel 2 was and always will be one of the best fighters ever. For it to be a MAIN game at Evo beating out the likes of Melee BlazBlue and Mortal Kombat is a big deal.
It just seems something bigger is at play here. Especially since this is a "invitational" and not a full blown tournament. Just seems like a very big marketing move to me. And for this game only to have 8 players and beat out the other games i listed it's clear money is at play here. And why would Capcom be spending money just to promote a 20 year old game??
Now onward to today's news. "V"'s voice actor might of just straight up broken NDA and directly confirmed a new VS game.
It really seems like the stage is set for a new VS game to be announced at Evo and this is honestly the best time for it. Obviously if it happens it's being saved for PS5/Scarlett(i refuse to say xbox series x lol) so at the earliest it won't be out until this winter but i would think it would be a 2021 game. That will make it 4 years since the release of MVCI. That's enough time for people to forget about that travesty and embrace the series again.
There honestly are very few games i want more then a new vs game. And the hype is kinda there right now. Let's hope we not being swindled lol .
